Autoguiding the EQ-6

The EQ-6 has an autoguiding port on the mount, but may also be guided via a computer attached to the Syncscan hand controller. The autoguider port may be connected directly to the CCD guiding output (if you have one). I didn't get this to work with my MI-G300 camera - perhaps I should have used a relay box in-between (see below, "Autoguiding the Losmandy GM-8"). However, the autoguiding via computer works very well, and this connection also allows for pointing the telescope in parallel.

The autoguiding is done using the PHD software.

I use Cartes du Ciel (CdC) for automatic pointing.

Both programs make use of the ASCOM interface provided by the Celestron Scope Driver (which is freely available on the web - just search for it).

The driver handles the pointing consistently: guiding corrections made by PHD are instantaneously shown in the CdC window as well.
